Random Acts of Artists Invitational

July 6 - August 31
Opening Reception: July 6, 5-7 pm

Random Acts of Artists Invitational Exhibition is an exhibit featuring the works of over 30 artists who are members of Random Acts of Artists Inc. (RAA) The works in this exhibition are representative of the variety of talent, perspectives and medias used by our artists. It includes works done in oil, acrylic, pencil, ceramic, fabric, photography, jewelry and mixed media. Several of the artists presented in this exhibition have received awards in national and regional juried shows.

With over 140 active members, RAA represents artists from a 50 mile radius of its home base in Sharon PA. In addition to the individual art done by its members, RAA has provided public art shows, theatrical events and has created several public art installations. We believe that whenever artists gather, new ideas and perspectives on art are formed. This is evident in the works displayed in this exhibition.

We welcome you to enjoy our endeavors as artists and hope that you will support the ideals put forth in our Mission Statement:  "Dedicated to promoting the arts, nurturing the artists and serving the community, through open communications and mutual cooperation."  Terry Polonsky, President RAA

Random Acts of Artists Inc, (RAA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 corporation consisting of local creative individuals from all areas of the arts. Our members represent some of the area’s finest talents in fine art, theatre, music, dance, design and crafts. We started out as small group of artists gathering informally to share each other’s talents and knowledge. Social media became our means of communicating.

Soon we created our own Facebook Page, to coordinate meeting times and share our art and events online. That page now has over 900 Facebook followers. RAA now also has Twitter and Instagram accounts, and a website, www.randomactsofartists.com.

RAA also has an active membership component. Those who wish to participate in art shows, theater offerings, creative workshops, community art projects and many other artistic endeavors that RAA sponsors receive discounts and invitations to participate in these event by paying a nominal membership fee. Our active enrollment now consists of over 140 members.

Our purpose is to unite, inform and encourage artists. We have online group discussions and critiques of concepts and art. Information about area shows and events is gathered and posted for the convenience of our members. Members participate in group art projects to benefit the community. We communicate with area leaders in an effort to bring more of the arts to the Shenango Valley region. RAA continues to have informal gathering of members on Wednesday evenings. The location of these meetings is posted on our Facebook page. We also host live model drawing sessions, poetry readings, group community projects, art classes and musical events. Members are always encouraged to share ideas and enjoy the company of other fellow artists. Once a month we also invite guest speaker to give a presentation or demonstration. We do this to benefit each other’s artistic endeavors and the community.
