Captured Moments in Paint
Rabecca Signoriello and Janet Wilson
November 15, 2015 - January 6, 2016.
Opening Reception: November 19, 5:30-7:30 pm
Captured Moments in Paint, a new exhibition by local artists Rabecca Signoriello and Janet Wilson, opened at The Confluence on November 16. Though driven to pursue art at different times and in different ways than the other, these two ladies have found a common ground in their art-making to share their observations of resonating moments captured from their own life experience.
“I primarily paint because I enjoy the physicality of the process,” says Signoriello, “it is a vehicle in which I can represent the layers of emotion I am trying to seize.” Many of Signoriello’s paintings are therefore subtly charged with a personal narrative that can leave the viewer uneasy if he cannot unfold the moment. Primarily a figurative artist, Signoriello received her formal education from Edinboro University with a BFA in Animation and Graphic Design. She went onto complete her MFA from the New York Academy of Art.
Janet Wilson, on the other hand, considers painting her second career after spending her first thirty years as a teacher and coach. After retiring in 1995, she relocated to New Castle in 2004 and studied watercolor with Jocelyn Beatty at the Hoyt for a number of years. She has since gone to study and work with several additional artists including Rabecca. The exhibit will be on display through January 6, 2016.
