ELIGIBILITY, RULES & REGULATIONS

All performers, staged or street, must submit an application and be approved by the AOR committee to participate in the festival due to limited performing areas.  Resumes and work samples are strongly encouraged by all applicants. They are required if you are applying for stage time. Web links are acceptable.

Application Process: To be considered, please complete and return this application with work samples to the Hoyt no later than July 1, 2017.  Spaces may be filled on a first come, first served basis so early application is advised. Submitting an application DOES NOT guarantee participation. You will receive notification in the mail of your acceptance status no later than July 15. If approved, the performance schedule indicating the time and location (s) you have been assigned will be mailed no later than August 31.

Performer Categories: Two categories of performers will be considered; Street and Stage. Street Performers are defined as portable artists who can perform virtually anywhere UNPLUGGED.  No amplification, staging or electricity is needed or utilized. Stage Performers are defined as those that require a designated platform with electricity and amplification to perform. You can apply in both categories IF street performance is conducted UNPLUGGED.  Otherwise, select Stage Performer.

Gratuities: In true busking fashion, performers may accept tips and gratuities in exchange for offering entertainment.  However, the City of New Castle does not permit performers to sell merchandise (example CDs) without a transient license or to make outright requests for donations (i.e. beg).  In most cases, AOR is not compensating performing artists for their participation, but offering a platform for you to perform. Your participation will be featured before, during and after the eventin the event program, on-stage and on social media directing viewers to your contact information (as applicable).

Restrictions: Please respect surrounding vendors, businesses and other participants when performing at all times.  Relocating from your assigned area or amplifying a street performance may unintentionally cause a disturbance in a crowded environment. Criminal, libelous, slanderous, indecent or fraudulent behavior is strictly prohibited. Performances must be in good taste and suitable for audiences of any age. Performances must not be political in nature.
