The American Icon
February 16-April 9
Opening Reception: February 26, 5-7 pm
Born in Greenville, Pa, artist Dominic Lynn produces his thought provoking portraits from his home studio in New Castle, Pa.
At a very early age, he knew he wanted to become an artist, drawing his first portrait while at Tender Care pre-school. Largely a self-taught artist, he sites his experiences in High School and the Hoyt’s after school program as his only form of training.
Dominic believes his strongest work is the “Soldier With a Puppy’’, because he can relate to “soldiering on” during the hard times in his life and how it helped him move forward. Often spending as long as two weeks to complete a portrait, he prefers to work with charcoal and pastel, but he also enjoys using pencil, oil and acrylic.
Dividing his time between working at Jameson Hospital and creating art works, Dominic hopes to continue honing his artistic skills to become a freelance artist and a creative director for an advertising agency.
The American Icon will be on display at The Confluence through April 9.
