2nd Annual Short Film & Video Competition

The Short Film & Video Festival is a great opportunity for both established and emerging artists to gain regional exposure at the Arts on the Riverwalk festival in downtown New Castle, PA. Screenings will take place at the Historic Warner Theatre Museum, the original site of the first Warner Brothers theater, throughout the day on September 8, 2018. A varied representation of artistic visions, genres and methods of production are welcome. Open to ages 18+ within a 250 mile radius of New Castle, PA.

Arts on the Riverwalk Juried Art Competition
Artists 18 & older residing within 50 miles of New Castle are invited to apply for the 5th Annual Local Arts Competition at Arts on the Riverwalk!
Registration Day: August 18, 11 am - 4 pm at the Hoyt.
Eligibility: Entries are limited to artists 18+ living within 50 miles of New Castle, PA
Delivery: Works must be delivered to the Hoyt on Saturday, August 18, 11 am - 4 pm.
Entry Forms: Complete entry card and tags and attach to work
Originality: Works must be original and completed in the last three years. No kits or reproductions.
Presentation: All works must be ready for show. 2D pieces must be framed with white or neutral mats and wired.
Media: All media will be considered with the exception of video, installation or mobiles.
Restrictions: Due to space constraints, only two entries per artist. Work should not exceed 36 inches in any direction or 100 pounds in weight.
Entry Fee: A non-refundable $10 entry fee per entry.
Sales: All sales will be referred directly to the artist.
Pick Up: Works are picked up at the Hoyt after the exhibition closes on Saturday, November 3, 11 am - 4 pm.

If you are interested in applying for a solo or group show at the Hoyt or at the off-site locations, please take a minute to review the following guidelines.
While not limited to the following, the Hoyt does emphasize the exhibition of talent from the Mid Atlantic Region of the United States defined as Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and Washington D.C. Additional eligibility requirements may apply by venue:
Hoyt Main Galleries: Selection is competitive among established artists and/or groups demonstrating mature talent and exhibition experience. Artists must be 21+. Please note that due to the historic nature of the facilities, exhibition spaces cannot be altered to accommodate video and installations. Therefore, these media are discouraged.
The Confluence/Downtown New Castle: The Confluence is a community coffee house and gathering space featuring a stage, library and contemporary gallery space showcasing local art by local artists in the heart of downtown New Castle, PA. Exhibition is limited to artists living within a 50 mile radius of the city.
Applications for solo or group shows are accepted by mail and must include the following:

- 10-20 digital images (jpeg only)
- Image list including the title, medium, and dimensions of each piece.
- Current resume or curriculum vitae.
- $25 review fee.

Arts on the Riverwalk Mural
Exterior Mural: YMCA, Downtown New Castle
Arts & Education at the Hoyt is seeking proposals for the design and execution of an exterior mural on the east facing wall of the YMCA in downtown, New Castle, Pa. The mural will be unveiled at the 5th annual Arts on the Riverwalk festival on Saturday, September 8, 2018.
Rooted in Lawrence County for over 150 years, the New Castle YMCA continues to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Concept drawings should emphasize the idea of "healthy living" as it relates to Lawrence County. Information on our local heritage and recreation can be found at www.lawrencechs.com and www.visitlawrencecounty.com.
Proposals should include a cover letter, resume, concept drawings, work samples, bid amount, and references. Finalists will be interviewed by selection panel. Work may begin in May and must be complete by August. Deadline for proposals: April 1.
