Arts on the Riverwalk began in 2014 as a partnership between Arts & Education at the Hoyt and the Lawrence County Tourist Promotion Agency to elevate tourism in downtown New Castle as a component of the New Castle Fireworks Festival. Arts on the Riverwalkcontributed an Artists Market , Staged and Street Performance, Interactive Adult & Children’s Activities, Arts Competitions, and Exhibits to the food, fireworks and fun to attract over 10,000 visitors each year.
With three years of planning under our belts, we are spreading our wings as an independent event this year to celebrate the visual and performing arts in our region. We've changed the date from mid- July to early September and have developed new partnerships to incorporate a Short Film & Video Festival, dance residency, workshops, 'make and take' activities for adults and the dedication of our first public art project.
Artists, musicians, poets, dancers, actors, film-makers and creators of all kinds are welcome to participate and support the Hoyt's mission “to expand and enrich the life of the community through participation in the arts.”
