Framing Basics Workshop
1 Saturday: February 2, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Learn the basic aspects of framing your own work – from layout to cutting mats and closing. Bring one piece of work, up to 12”x16”, to class. Course fee includes mounting and mat. Frame and glass may be ordered separately. Capacity: 16 students. Minimum: 3 students. Ages 16+. Non-members: $65/Members: $50.

Ceramics
8 Tuesdays: January 15 – March 5, 6 – 8:30 pm
8 Thursdays: January 17 – March 7, 9:30 am – Noon

Be prepared to get dirty while learning skills of hand building, the potter’s wheel, and glazing. The projects are as endless as your imagination and the studio is available for use outside of class. Please bring old towels. Glazing and firing included with 25lbs of clay. An additional 25 lbs may be purchased for $50. Capacity:10 students. Minimum: 5 students. Non-members: $220/Members: $190.

CHESS

The Art of Chess
8 Saturdays: January 19 – March 9, 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.

It’s your move! Join professional chess player, Diana Boak, to learn and/or improve your game! All levels are welcome from beginner to advanced! Students will be grouped by level and practice skills learned by playing games in glass. While some equipment will be provided, bring your own board, pieces and timers if you have them. Ages 12+ Capacity: 16 students. Minimum: 8 students. Non-members: $130/Members: $100.

Dianna Boak is a retired small business proprietor. She studied piano and voice under scholarship at Boston Conservatory of Music. An avid artist, she had her own gallery in Southern California. She has been a member of the U.S. Chess Federation and played rated chess for two decades, participating in many chess clubs.

Art of Bread Making

Learn to fill your kitchen with the wonderful smell of fresh baked bread!  Nancy Connelly will share her secrets for creating crisp, artisan bread in just five minutes!  Bring a bread pan, baking sheet and appetite.  Samples and materials are included in the course fee! This workshop is an extension of Art Basics 1. You will learn more advanced techniques for shading, understand light sources, and more. All materials included. Capacity: 15 students. Minimum: 6 students. Ages 16+. Non-members: $45/Members: $30.

Open Drawing Session Workshop

This is a workshop for students having difficulty with particular areas of drawing. The instructor will provide individualized assistance by teaching techniques and providing insight so that students may better progress in their drawing abilities. Capacity: 15 students. Apparel Design & Construction
8 Tuesdays: January 15 – March 5, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Learn the art of clothing design and construction in a variety of materials and styles! Projects can range from dresses and gowns to a simple pair of slacks! Hands on assistance will teach you to alter custom and commercial designs to fit an individual. Some sewing experience and “homework” will be required. Portable sewing machines will be available in class, but feel free to bring your own. Ages: 16+. Capacity: 10 students. Minimum: 3 students. Non-members: $115/Members: $85.

Whether group or 1:1, the instruction in the harp covers the basics of playing, notereading, rhythms, tuning, and other general topics. Landscape Painting In Watercolor
8 Thursdays: January 17 – March 7, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Begin to understand the importance of patience, creativity, style and courage to recreate the landscape with regional watercolorist, Bryce Herrington. You’ll learn to prepare your surface, plan your composition, create and transfer sketches, and apply masks and washes. Then you’ll experiment with layering to build values and achieve luminous color in different sky/light conditions. Supply list mailed upon registration. Capacity: 20 students. Minimum: 5 students. Painting Cityscapes In Watercolor
4 Tuesdays: February 12 – March 5, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Recreate the cityscape with regional watercolorist, Bryce Herrington! The instructor will help both beginning and intermediate students with the nuance of color, style and creativity in this versatile medium. Painting Wildlife In Watercolor

Learn to capture your favorite wildlife creature over the course of four weeks. The instructor will help both beginning and intermediate students focus on color, form and texture to add reality to their brushwork. Transparent Watercolor

Join recognized regional painter, Jocelyn Beatty, for a step by step instruction in this versatile medium. Instruction includes use of watercolor and drawing techniques.
